Small parts. Great efficiency.

Güde GmbH automates small-parts storage with Jungheinrich

More space, less effort: Güde streamlines its distribution processes with automated small-parts storage and order picking. 12,480 double-depth container storage locations in two aisles at the Plettenberg production site maximise storage capacity, including potential for further growth.

Challenges:

  • Automation of small-parts storage to accelerate distribution processes.
  • Streamlining of processes and reduction of manual effort.
  • Expansion of the capacity limits of storage and picking.
  • Ensuring expansion options without restricting operational processes.

Solutions:

  • Automatic small-parts warehouse with two 40-metre-long and 7.3-metre-high aisles.
  • Aisle operation by two Jungheinrich STC stacker cranes.
  • Space for a total of 12,480 containers with a maximum capacity of 50 kg per container.
  • Double-depth storage of containers for maximum storage density.
  • Control of the warehouse via the Jungheinrich Warehouse Control System (WCS).

Successes:

  • Automatic operation reduces personnel costs and maximises operational and process reliability.
  • Significantly faster order picking with 330 container storage and retrieval operations per hour.
  • Increased storage capacity with room for future growth.
  • Expansion to a third aisle possible without affecting ongoing operations.
  • Optimal collaboration as an excellent basis for future cooperation.
