Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV)

Automatic truck solutions and fully automatic transport are the main focus of our automated guided vehicles (AGVs). We use intelligent automation components to automate our tried-and-tested standard production trucks and adapt them to your individual requirements.

The right AGV for you: As a stand-alone or system solution

When creating an automated guided vehicle (AGV) solution for your business, we are guided by your specific requirements for your production and working environments. First and foremost, our AGVs enable safe and efficient transport processes. They can transport loads weighing up to 2.5 tons to the designated stations safely, fully automatically and, thanks to laser navigation, with millimetre precision. We supply the AGV in your required configuration, either in conjunction with an inventory management system or as a stand-alone solution. The automated truck solution is tailored to your specific environment so that the AGVs complete your tasks with the utmost reliability – be it actuation of high-speed doors, load changing on conveyor systems or level changes via freight elevators. Our AGVs can be easily integrated into your production environment and used safely in mixed operation.

Automated guided vehicles based on series production trucks

Our automatic truck solutions combine sophisticated, innovative technology with a vast amount of experience. To identify the right AGV for your needs, we are happy to analyse your individual transport structures to identify the perfect solution with which to optimise your processes. And we will work with you to plan the best possible application of your AGV. Our aim is to save you time and costs, particularly for standardised routine tasks, and to minimise cases of transport damage. When using automated guided vehicles, you benefit from efficient and reliable transport procedures as well as optimum use of your resources. Thanks to our award-wining Jungheinrich Logistics Interface, which is developed entirely in-house, we can easily integrate your AGV with an existing ERP system. We also offer 24/7 support for our automatic systems, with rapid assistance assured via remote access. This allows us to ensure maximum performance and problem-free deployment at all times.

Automatic high-rack stackers for high-bay warehouses

Automatic high-bay warehouses place particularly high demands on your warehouse technology. The complete system is comprised of one or more AGVs, based on a high-rack stacker, along with a rack system, a protective fence including area access control and the warehouse control system (WCS).  This is supplemented by supplying systems such as conveyor technology or additional AGVs. Multi-frequency guide wires and transponders in the ground ensure efficient orientation within the aisle. As well as transporting standard pallets, the automatic high-rack stackers can actuate a wide range of peripherals, such as the door to the maintenance area. To enable 24/7 deployment, the energy supply for the automatic high-rack stackers can take the form of rack-mounted busbars. If you opt for an AGV solution, you will reap the benefits of a high-availability system. And if you should ever encounter any problems, we will assist you with our support service for automatic systems, either on-site or via remote access.

Your introduction to automation

Autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) navigate freely within a defined area, avoid obstacles and orient themselves when picking up a load carrier by its position and alignment. So why not increase the vitality of your warehouse with our versatile AMR arculee S.

Your advantages at a glance

Succesful automation in intralogistics

AGV 2021 Image 2

Automation could play a vital role if:

  • Your operation is multi-shift
  • Your daily operation uses continuous transport with long/repetitive movements
  • You handle standardised unit loads such as euro pallets, industrial pallets and lattice boxes
  • Your warehouse utilises lift heights up to 6m / or up to 13m for high-rack stackers
  • You suffer frequent damage caused by manual transport
  • You are looking to optimise your resource
  • You are looking to reduce operational costs
  • You are concerned with social distancing and the safety of your staff
  • Your intralogistics need to be more efficient, flexible and crisis-proof
  • You want to invest in the future of logistics

If three or more of these indicators describe your operation, then your business would certainly benefit from some form of automation and it would be worth taking advantage of our free consultation to discuss your options further. For more insight into the current range of AGVs available from Jungheinrich, download our AGV flyer which gives an overview of each truck with specs and capabilities, and the environment required to run them successfully.

Functionality and design combined

Are you looking to optimize your supply and production processes without any additional effort or costs? That is no problem with our AGVs. They take over all of your routine tasks fully automated.

Our AGV model in action

Through the laser-guided route guidance you can optimize your transport routes and relieve your employees, while increasing efficiency and reliability around the clock. The simple integration into the existing infrastructure allows for flexible use of the AGV models. See for yourself and check out our AGVs in action.

Safety despite speed Safety despite speed

All AGVs are generally fitted with a personal protection scanner in driving direction. Depending on the truck’s speed, the field lengths of the safety area are adjusted. This means the faster the truck moves, the more its warning and protection fields are increased and their surroundings are more proactively scanned.

The Automated Guided Vehicles also detect objects that may be located on the sides of the truck along its path. The side-mounted laser scanners allow for these objects to be detected in advance. In addition, they serve as an additional feature when cornering. The sensors identify objects that could touch the outside of the truck while cornering. If this is the case, they ensure a contactless stop of the truck.

Additional safety is provided with the sensor curtain. The purpose of the sensor curtain is to detect objects above and below the detection level of the personal protection sensor and to avoid a collision with these objects. For example, it can detect pallets and loads that are protruding too far out of the racking. The sensor curtain does not only operate when travelling straight ahead, it also “looks” ahead into the curve.
